Indepth

I made two pieces of music this week but neither of them are technically songs.
They are both too short and don’t have enough melody for me to really consider them songs.
I’m pretty happy with them though.
I would like to expand on them and turn them into regular songs but they are too complex to really layer onto or add too, so I’m at a loss.

This one here uses the same soundfont as the NES which is really cool. It’s made to sound like castlevania. I love the drums.

The next is great for completely different reasons. Its based on some chords I made fiddling at a piano (which I love) and it uses distorted drums (which I love). There were a few problems with volume, but I've fixed most of that.

As far as actual improvement regarding my skill… That seems to be almost immeasurable, seeing as the value of the songs depends on how much time I put towards them and this time I made two instead of one.

I’m probably improving though. That would make sense.

I agree with your observations for why you like them. These two samples are very different and an excellent way to test different compositions. I would make lots of different short samples and then pick a few of your favorites to design them into full songs. When you are at a loss, you should call on your mentor. That is why you have one!
